Karachi: 183 died in town last week
Karachi: Some 183 persons lost their lives last week, of whom one was killed in a blast, 135 were shot dead, 13 were murdered, four of them were burnt to death, two committed suicide, six drowned, while 14 bodies were recovered and eight died accidents.
At least 2,143 robberies were committed, 1,438 of which involved mobile snatching or stealing, 116 cars and 168 motorcycles were snatched. People were robbed of valuables in 421 other incidents of robberies in all. Three-hundred-and-forty-three cases of thefts were reported last week, in which 106 cars, 196 motorcycles were taken away from different parts of the metropolis.
According to the police data, 274 miscreants were arrested and 425 articles were recovered.
previous week: One-hundred-and-five persons died last week. Of these, one was killed in a blast; 33 were shot dead; 18 others were murdered in other ways; three were burnt to death; five committed suicide; six drowned; 23 were killed in accidents; and 16 bodies were salvaged.
There were 1,855 robberies. Of these, 1,149 pertained to snatching or stealing of cell phones. A hundred-and-twenty-two (122) cars and 199 motorbikes were snatched.
People were robbed of valuables in 385 incidents of robberies and 418 thefts. This included 132 cars and 230 motorbikes being taken away from different parts of the city. Furthermore, 324 “miscreants” were arrested and 196 snatched or stolen articles were retrieved.
