Lahore: Kidney dealers on judicial remand
LAHORE: A judicial magistrate at cantonment courts on Monday sent seven accused, including a surgeon, to jail on judicial remand till July 25 for their involvement in illegal kidney transplantation.
The accused included Dr Anees and his six assistants Nadeem, Imran, Mushtaq, Sagheer, Mubashar and Ali. The magistrate also dismissed acquittal application of Indonesian Abdullah, who had visited the accused doctor for kidney transplant. He observed that according to Pakistani laws both selling and buying of human organs were a crime, therefore, the buyer (Abdullah) could not be given any concession.
The police had arrested the doctor and others when they were transplanting a kidney into the Indonesian national.
