Lahore: Man freed from police custody
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Mubeen on Wednesday released Younis after getting him recovered from the illegal custody of the Sattukatla police.
The court has directed CCPO Lahore to take a disciplinary action against SHO Sattukatla Shabbir Hussain for misusing his powers.
Previously, the court’s bailiff had recovered the detainee from the illegal detention of the Sattukatla police and handed him over to the Anarkali police to produce him before the court. On Wednesday, the Anarkali police produced younis before the court from where he was released by the judge.
Earlier, Mushtaq Ahmed had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court alleging that the Sattukatla police have detained his brother Younis illegally. He implored the court for the recovery of his brother. On his plea, the court appointed a bailiff namely Iftikhar Khan, who recovered Younis from the Sattukatla police station.
The bailiff while submitting his report said that the police has informed him that Younis was arrested in a case of cash withdrawal of over one crore rupees (cheque No-5230093) and an FIR was registered on behalf of PCSIR, a welfare society. However, the FIR was registered against one Khalid Mahmood and others. The bailiff added that arrest of Younis was not registered in the daily diary.
The police further told that Younis was arrested during investigation on the said FIR. On the very contrary, Younis’s brother took plea that his brother was on bail in the case.
