Lahore: Robbers shoot man dead on resistance
LAHORE: A 35-year-old man was shot dead by three dacoits on resistance in Nishtar Colony police area on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Jamil, son of Din Mohammad.
Police said Jamil was sitting in his shop when three armed bike-riders came to his shop, made him hostage at gunpoint and asked him to hand over the cash and other valuables. Jamil offered resistance upon which they shot and wounded him and rode away.
Injured Jamil was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to wounds on his way to hospital. Police registered a dacoity-cum-murder case against three unidentified robbers and shifted the body to morgue for autopsy.
Later, locals of the area blocked the main road for two hours and chanted slogans against the police over surge in killings at the hands of robbers in the provincial metropolis. However, the protesters dispersed when police assured them that the persons involved in the crime would soon be arrested.
