Plea of NICL scam accused dismissed as withdrawn
LAHORE: The Lahore High court on Wednesday dismissed as withdrawn a writ petition filed by former Federal Minister Habibullah Warraich, involved in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam, seeking recovery of his seized passport and removal of his name from the Exit Control List.
As the proceedings started, Warraichís counsel told the court that his client did not want to press the petition and sought permission to withdraw it. The court granted the permission and dismissed it as withdrawn.
Warraich has filed the petition to seek directions for the federal government to remove his name from the ECL as he wanted to go aboard along with his wife for medical treatment. He pointed out that as per his deal with the FIA, he had to return Rs420 million in six months time.
