2 injured in Torkham blast
LANDI KOTAL: Two persons sustained critical injuries and several vehicles suffered damage in a car-bomb explosion near the Torkham border on Thursday, official and tribal sources said. The sources said that militants had planted a time bomb in a car parked at the compound of the government and other offices near Torkham border.
“A huge blast rocked the customs clearance agents’ offices and shops at 12 p.m. and we only saw dust around the whole market,” one Hikmatullah told The News on phone. Two auto-mechanics identified as Shah Zada and Raees, residents of Peshawar, were injured and rushed to hospitals in Peshawar, the sources said. The blast smashed windowpanes of dozens of shops and damaged five cars parked near the site, the sources added. Following the blast, the security forces and bomb disposal unit official reached there and cordoned off the area.
