Lahore: Witness testifies in GPO Chowk blast case
Lahore: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday recorded the statement of a prosecution witness, Sub Inspector Imtiaz Hussain Shah, in the GPO Chowk bomb blast case.
The court has summoned another prosecution witness, Kashif Hussain Doger, for the next hearing. At least 22 people, including 19 police personnel, were killed in the suicide bomb blast ripped through the GPO Chowk near the Lahore High Court building. More than 70 people had sustained injuries.
Later, police had arrested the alleged mastermind of the blast, Shahzad. Police after completion of interrogation had submitted a challan against him in the court.
Case transferred: An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday transferred a case of possessing explosives against two accused to a judicial magistrate Irfan Anjum for the trial proceedings.
Previously, an anti-terrorism court had removed 7ATA from the FIR registered against the accused, Abbas and Rizwan. After which, the case was sent to sessions court.
Lower Mall Police, on a tip-off, had arrested the accused and seized 800 kilograms of explosive material comprising 120 explosive parcels, hand grenades and 100 bullets. Two cases were registered against them.
