Blasts damage school in Swabi
SWABI: A government school for boys was partially damaged when suspected militants detonated two bombs in its building here Friday, police officials and local residents said.
The officials said the militants had planted the bombs in the Government High School for Boys in Marghuz and triggered explosions early in the day.
Soon after the blasts, the police rushed to the spot and gathered pieces of evidence. “The explosives were planted in the veranda of the school and the blasts occurred one after the other. The people in the nearby area were woken up by the blasts,” said Syed Maluk Shah, SHO of the Zaida Police Station.
He said the three watchmen of the school were not present in the school when the explosions took place. “We have arrested the watchmen,” he added. The arrested watchmen were identified as Abid Rehman, Sardar Ahmad and Anees Ahmad. Locals said the watchmen were the residents of Marghuz and lived in the vicinity of the school.
