5 trucks torched, over 10 kidnapped in Kurram Agency
SADDA: Unidentified gunmen torched five trucks and one pick up truck and kidnapped over 10 persons in Charkhel and Mandori areas in Kurram Agency on Sunday, official and tribal sources said. The sources said a convoy of vehicles was on its way from Parachinar, the administrative headquarters of Kurram Agency, to Peshawar when it came under attack. “The gunmen opened fire on the convoy all of a sudden and forced the drivers to stop the vehicles,” a tribal elder said, requesting not to be named. He said two attendants with the vehicles were injured in the attack and the assailants kidnapped over 10 drivers at gunpoint after torching the trucks.
However, the names of the wounded and kidnapped persons could not be ascertained. Violence escalated in the volatile Kurram Agency after the security forces launched military action against the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)-led militants in central part of Kurram Agency. However, no arrangements had so far been made to secure the road between Parachinar and Thall.
