18 profiteers fined Rs 15,000
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration during anti-profiteering drive in markets of Sectors F-10 and G-11 and imposed fine of Rs 15,000 on 18 profiteers for over-charging the food items.
In order to ensure the availability of food items at the control rates, the assistant commissioners and magistrates have started surprise price checking in their areas and started imposing heavy fines on the profiteers to check the profiteering tendency.
According to ICT spokesman Khalid Mehmood, while intensifying the anti-profiteering drive in Islamabad, the Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) Fariduddin Mustafa conducted surprise price checking in the markets of F-10 and G-11 sectors and imposed fine amounting Rs 15,000 on 18 profiteers for over charging the food items. He also directed the shopkeepers to ensure the sale of food items at the fixed rates and display the rate list of fruits and vegetables prominently at their shops failing which heavy fines would be imposed on the next checking.
Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) Islamabad said that the food department Islamabad is fixing the rates of fruits and vegetables on daily basis in Islamabad and rate list is issued to the shopkeepers for display and strict implementation. He said that the administration has launched the price checking drive to ensure strict implementation of rate list and availability of food items at the control rates.
