Peshawar: Militants attempt to kidnap tribesman
PESHAWAR: Suspected militants attacked a tribesman and tried to kidnap him near a private hospital here on Monday morning. An official of Paharipura police station said that the tribesman identified as Naseem Abbas was on way to his residence from Hamza Surgical Hospital after enquiring after the health of his mother when militants attacked him.
The mother of the tribesman was shifted to Peshawar for treatment as she had sustained injuries in a similar attack in Parachinar, Kurram Agency, on June 3.
Mr Abbas said that attackers tried to kidnap him but opened firing on him when they failed to do. He said that his brother had also been kidnapped by militants from the main road in March last. “My brother is still in the custody of militants,” police quoted him as saying.
He said that he was studying in Australia and recently came to Pakistan on leave. He demanded of the government to provide protection to his family.
