Bahawalpur: Murder of woman by husband
BAHAWALPUR: Two sons of a woman, who was murdered by her husband and a stepson, have accused the Bahawalpur police of favouring the killers and demanding the shifting of investigation to Multan.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Bilawal Khan and Rawal Khan, residents of Multan’s Shah Rukn-e-Alam Colony, said that their criminal minded father Ghafoor Kanoon had called their mother Salma Mushtaq to get her third brother on June 22 and later murdered her with the help of Faiz, his another son from the first wife. He said that they lost trust in the Bahawalpur police and the case should be shifted to Multan police.
They said that the killers later threw the body into the Sutlej River and it was later recovered after 20 days. They said that had the Bahawalpur Civil Lines police and DPO Babar Bakhat Qureshi acted promptly their mother would have been saved. They alleged that Punjab Minister for Prisons Malik Iqbal Channar was backing the culprits after getting Rs 900,000. They appealed to Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the LHC chief justice and the IGP Punjab to help them get justice.
