Phoney healers of infertility arrested Police, local administration conduct raid on
Islamabad: In a joint operation with the District Administration, the Islamabad Police busted a gang of fake foreign-qualified doctors and arrested four men for their alleged involvement in extracting money from the public in the name of treatment for infertility on Wednesday.
SSP (Islamabad) Tahir Alam Khan, when contacted by ‘The News’ for his comments, conformed the report. He said that the gang had been running the business for a long time and action was taken on complaints lodged with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and police by some victims.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Barrister Dr. Ehtasham Anwar, when contacted by this correspondent, said that fake doctors were running their business posing themselves as US-qualified physicians. He said that the gang was trapped by the SP (City Zone) and the AC City who went to the clinic in guise of patients.
The arrests were made during a raid jointly conducted by the Islamabad Police and District Administration under the supervision of SP (City Zone) Captain (r) Mohammad Ilyas and Assistant Commissioner Imran Ali Sultan, in response to a complaint lodged by Mohammad Ansar, a resident of Gujrat.
In his complaint, the complainant said that he had approached Dr. Manzoor, who was running a clinic — American Hospital — in Sector F-8/1 where they, the issueless couple, were given medical treatment. The doctor claimed the issueless couple was treated with imported and modern medicines, which have 100 per cent result.
The complainant along with his wife went to the clinic where they were given medicines for Rs50,000 and they were asked to come again after a month.
The couple again went to the clinic and paid Rs100,000 to the doctor for two-month medicines. However the medicines affected his kidneys.
The complainant also approached the NAB in this connection, which asked the PMDC to investigate into the matter. The PMDC asked the DHO to conduct an inquiry. The DHO probed into the issue and recorded the statements of the victims.
In the light of the inquiry, the District Administration directed police to register a case against the doctor and the clinic. In response to the orders, police and city administration raided the clinic and arrested four men — Manzoor Hussain, Abdul Razzaq, Naveed Ahmed and Safdar Khan — and impounded medicines.
Later, the arrested men were shifted to the Margalla Police Station and put behind the bars after registration of a case under sections 419,420,468 and 471 of the PPC.
The complainants appreciated the police action against the accused, who were allegedly minting money. They asked police to recover their money. They also demanded treatment for infertility.
Inspector General of Police Bani Ameen Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police Tahir Alam Khan also appreciated police and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for those who conducted the raid.
