Rawalpindi: Owners of restaurants challaned
RAWALPINDI: The district health department on Wednesday issued challans to owners of four restaurants for poor hygiene. District Food Inspector Rana Ghulam Murtaza told Dawn that the health department team conducted a raid on restaurants in different parts of the city in its ongoing campaign against adulteration and unhygienic condition of food outlets.
He said the team checked four restaurants –Alladin Restaurant, Gulf Hotel, Awami Cooking Centre and Sarhad Hotel – and found their kitchens and utensils in unhygienic condition. The team also destroyed rotten food from these outlets.
Another health department team conducted raids in different markets and seized 800kg of fungus-infested pickle, putrid milk and yogurt.
The team raided a pickle factory at Pir Choha Imambargah Chowk and confiscated 800kg of pickle being kept in unhygienic condition. It also destroyed 200 litres of putrid milk at Dhoke Khabba.
