2 schools blown up in Bara
BARA: The militants blew up two more schools in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency late Wednesday night, local sources said. The sources said that explosives planted by the militants in the Government Boys Middle School, Gulmeran Killay in Akakhel area, caused the explosion when triggered with a remote–controlled device late in the night.
The sources added the Government Girls Primary School in the Ajab Khan Killay in Shalobar area was also blown up with an explosion. The number of the destroyed schools has reached 56 in Khyber Agency over the last two years.
Around two-third of the destroyed schools are located in Bara tehsil. The militants began destroying the schools after the military operation that was launched against them in September 2009.
Meanwhile, a culvert in Shalobar area was also blown up by the militants with explosives. The militants, the sources said, also stole equipment Wednesday night from a government-run tubewell built on the land owned by journalist Qadar Khan Afridi.
