Kurram tribesmen repulse militants’ attack
HANGU: The militants on Thursday attacked the Masozai tribe living in Neka Zirat area of lower Kurram Agency with heavy weapons, tribal sources said. The sources said the tribesmen repulsed the attack with full force compelling the militants to flee the area. The militants left behind four pickup trucks, the sources added.
Meanwhile, the internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing at the Durrani Camp in lower Kurram Agency Thursday staged a protest against the non-provision of basic facilities. The protesting tribesmen torched four tents of the officials in the area.
The tribesmen had to flee their homes in central part of Kurram region after the forces launched operation against the militants. Several displaced persons are residing in camps in lower part of the tribal region. Also the cellular phone services have been suspended in Hangu, Thall and Doaba areas of Hangu district for an indefinite period, the sources said.
