Kohat: Minor killed in mortar shelling
KOHAT: A minor girl was killed and three other members of a family sustained injuries when mortar shells fired by militants hit a house in Gharibi village of Jawakai area in Frontier Region Kohat on Friday, tribal sources said.
The sources said militants fired six mortar shells from Tor Chappar area in Darra Adamkhel at Gharibi village where one of the shells struck the house of Abdul Sattar. His seven-year-old daughter, Naureen, was killed on the spot while his wife and two daughters sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital in Kohat.
Meanwhile, the clashes between the pro-government lashkar fighters and the militants continued on the fourth day on Friday though the security forces launched offensive against the militants by firing with artillery at their hideouts in Tor Chappar. The lashkar fighters opened fire at the hideouts from the Jammu area. The exchange of fire between the lashkar and militants was continuing till filing of this report.
