Lahore: Pregnant woman dies through doctors negligence
LAHORE: A 22-year-old pregnant woman died allegedly through negligence of doctors in the General Hospital on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Madeeha, a resident of Amar-Sadhu. She was pregnant and her family took her to the General Hospital after she felt severe labour pains. The doctors allegedly refused to treat her, saying that it was a routine pain.
The family members requested the doctors several times but doctors did not pay attention. As a result, she expired on the hospital premises.
After her death, the family members turned violent and staged a protest demonstration on Ferozpur Road by placing her body on the road. The demonstration caused a traffic mess for several hours. Later, police dispersed the protesters by assuring them of justice.
Duty Officer AMS Dr Munazza on the issue said that when Madeeha was brought to hospital, she was already dead. In these circumstances, survival of the baby was impossible but doctors checked the baby, she claimed.
After baby s death was confirmed, doctors handed over the bodies to heirs but they started protest, Dr Munazza maintained.
