Gujranwala: Torture, detention of a woman
GUJRANWALA: The sessions judge has ordered a case against seven people, including an SI and five constables of the Garjakh police, for torturing a woman and detaining her in the lock-up illegally.
Aneela was badly tortured and detained by the Garjakh police at the behest of her father-in-law Ashraf Khan on alleged theft charge. She is under treatment at DHQ Hospital. The medical report confirmed that the woman was badly tortured. Ashraf Khan had accused his son Amir Khan and daughter-in-law Aneela of steeling gold ornaments and handed them over to the Garjakh police. Amir had confessed to crime to secure the release of his wife Aneela.
The court ordered the case against SI Saadul Hassan, the investigation officer, five constables and girl’s father-in-law Ashraf Khan. The police arrested Saadul Hassan and Ashraf Khan from the courtroom. Aneela told journalists the policemen tortured her for four days, hanged her upside down after stripping her clothes and rolled an iron rod over her legs to force her to commit to the crime, which she did not commit.
