Karachi: 5 injured in grenade attack
KARACHI: At least five people were wounded when unidentified culprits hurled a hand grenade near Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park, Manghopir Road within the precincts of Pak Colony police station. The victims were identified as Lal Mohammad, 55, Nazar Mohammad, 22, Ramiz, 15, Naseer, 14 and Imran, 13.
They were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medical treatment. SHO Shakeel Sherwani said all victims were relatives adding that their conditions were out of danger. Linking it with the chain of recent clashes between gangsters groups for the reoccupation of Old Golimar and Pak Colony areas, Sherwani said two motorcyclists possibly associated with some gang threw a hand grenade. He said that victims had no affiliation with any group. The gate of park was also damaged in the incident. In the aftermath, armed miscreants restored to aerial firing in the area, forcing the shopkeepers to close their shops.
