Karachi: Political activists, lawyer among 12 shot dead
Karachi: At least 12 people, including activists of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Movement (JSQM) and an advocate, were gunned down in different parts of the city. Besides, five people were injured when unidentified men threw a hand grenade inside a park in Pak Colony on Wednesday.
The bullet-riddled bodies of Muhammad Ahmed Baloch (18) and Tariq Baloch (28) were recovered from near Makrani Masjid in PIB Colony police limits.
According to police, they were kidnapped the other day by some unidentified people who tortured them to death and later threw their bodies in the area.
Both the deceased were said to be the activists of PPP and they lived in PIB Colony police area. Junaid, 35, an advocate by profession, was fired upon and seriously injured by two gunmen, riding a motorcycle, just outside his residence (798/17) in Ancholi Society in Gulberg police area, while he was parking his motorcycle.
Upon hearing the gunshots, his family members and the area people rushed to the spot and immediately took him to a private hospital where he expired during treatment. Later, his body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Kambo Khaskhali, 23, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen, riding a motorcycle, near Met Office in Mobina Town police area, while he was going to his office. His corpse was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities.
The deceased was an activist of JSQM and lived in Sachal police jurisdiction. The bullet-riddled bodies of two unidentified men in their mid-twenties, stuffed in gunny bags, were recovered from near Chawal Market situated in Nazimabad No-1 in Rizvia Society police limits.
The victims were blindfolded and their hands and legs were tied with a piece of rope. Their corpses were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem.
The deceased received four bullets each on different parts of their bodies. Police said that the deceased looked like Balochs and they were kidnapped and tortured to death by unidentified criminals.
The bullet-riddled body of Sandeep Singh, 25, was found stuffed in a gunny bag near Bagh-e-Hilar in Garden police jurisdiction. His hands and legs were also tied with a piece of rope. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital. The deceased was a resident of Niran Pura situated in Ranchore Lane. He was also tortured to death in a similar manner.
An unidentified 32-year-old man was gunned down by two unidentified armed men, riding a motorcycle, in Shah Faisal Colony No-2 while he was going to his residence.
The bodies of two unidentified people of 30 to 35 years age were found packed in two gunny bags lying near Liquatabad railway tracks in Sharifabad police area.
The hands and legs of the victims were tied with a piece of rope. Their bodies were later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
Police said that they were kidnapped by unidentified people who tortured them to death and threw their bodies in the area.
Meanwhile, Lal Muhammad, Naseer, Ramees, Nazar Muhammad and Imran were injured when unidentified people, riding a motorcycle, threw a hand grenade inside Benazir Bhutto Park situated in Pak Colony police jurisdiction. They were rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment. Police apprehended that Lyari gangsters might have thrown the locally-made hand grenade in the park.
Late on Wednesday night, attackers on motorcycles shot dead two men in Quaid-e-Azaim Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and fled.
