Lahore: Mastermind of entrance test leak, eight others arrested
LAHORE: The Gujjarpura investigation police on Thursday arrested the main accused, a student of BSc Honours at University of Engineering and Technology, for emailing entrance test to more than 18 persons, a lab assistant and seven beneficiaries of the test.
The investigation of the case and all the arrested accused have been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Department for further inquiry.
A team of Gujjarpura Investigations Police, headed by Incharge Investigation Mehdi Kazmi, on directions of SP Investigations Civil Lines Capt (retd) Liaqat in a late night development on Wednesday arrested BSC honours student, Naseer. Sources said Naseer was the main accused in the case and he had emailed the question paper of the entrance test to around 18 persons. They said the police had arrested Naseer after seeing the video recording of CCTV cameras installed in the net cafe of the already arrested accused Shuja.
The sources said that the video of the CCTV camera at the net cafe indicated flats located in the same area with a name of a commercial plaza. They said police investigators later collected the college identity cards of the students residing in the flats located in the plaza, adding that Shuja’s computer and email address were used by Naseer from the copy of his University Identity Card over which they raided the university hostel and arrested Naseer. Later, during interrogation, Naseer named seven other students who were also arrested.
