ISLAMABAD: The capital police on Sunday conducted a search operation in various areas of the city and arrested 45 suspects and 23 outlaws and recovered 48 wine bottles, drugs, hand grenade and illegal weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said.
IGP Bani Amin Khan directed SSP Tahir Alam Khan to launch a crackdown against the suspects and mischievous elements.
Following these directions, Koral police station conducted an operation in slum areas, under construction buildings, plazas and nabbed 45 suspects.
SHO Koral police station Inspector Mehr Munawar Ali and his team apprehended 45 suspects during search operation in Korang town, Pakistan Town, PWD Colony, Lohi Bher, Police Foundation, Doctors Colony and adjoining areas.
Investigation is underway from the suspects as they could not produce any authentic document for their identity.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Aashiq Ali and ASI Abrar Hussain of Tarnol police apprehended two persons Gul Wali and Ayat Ullah for having one hand grenade and two 30-bore pistols.
Sub-Insepctor Basharat Ali of Sihala police nabbed a person Janan Khan for having 170gram hashish while ASI Muhammad Rasees arrested an accused Shehbaz Maseeh for having 24 wine bottles.
Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hussain of Bhara Kahu police apprehended Amjad Hussain for having 520 gram hashish. SHO Kohsar police station Abid Ikram and his team raided a house in sector F-6/1 and arrested 16 persons for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.
A total of 24 wine bottles were also recovered during this raid. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan appreciated the performance of the police officials and directed them to intensify patrolling and vigilance in their respective areas.
