Karachi: Student injured in clash at JPMC
Karachi: A violent clash between two rival student organisations, the Punjabi Student Association (PSA) and the Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT), at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) on Saturday, resulted in one casualty before law enforcers were able to bring the situation under control.
The fight broke out within JPMC’s central cafeteria around 1 pm. According to eyewitness accounts, both parties used iron rods and wooden while they proceeded to break the windows of the central mosque, corridors and a nearby building. A supporter of the PSA, Shabeer, sustained bullet injuries during the course of the attack.
One witness informed that there were some unresolved issues between the two groups, which was why the fight broke out in the first place. Eventually law enforcement agencies reached the scene to maintain the peace and PSA supporters made their way to the Saddar police station to lodge a First Information Report (FIR).
