Muzaffarabad: 4 held for allotting govt land
MUZAFFARABAD: Four persons, including a lawyer, were arrested for their alleged involvement in forged allotment of government land measuring around 100 kanals.
According to the sources, Shafiqur Rehman Awan lodged an FIR with the city police against the four persons as they had issued him fake allotment chits of the government land.
Following the registration of the FIR, the accused had obtained interim bail which was cancelled by the district and sessions judge on Saturday.
As the bail was cancelled, the police arrested Raja Shabbir, Mohammad Khalid and Asif Mir from the court premises.
Main culprit, Khalid Hussain Rathore advocate, who had also been the counsel of the accused persons, managed to flee but was apprehended shortly afterwards while the fifth accused Mohsin Shabbir was declared as proclaimed offender.
Police sources said that the accused had been preparing counterfeit allotment chits and allotment deeds of the Police Lines ground, Government Sericulture Nursery and other government land.
They were also facing charges of preparing fake official stamps, allotment deeds and stealing of custodian evacuee property record.
According to the police, PO Raja Shabbir was also arrested in 2004 for stealing record of the government property from the custodian’s office.
