2 MQM men among four tortured, killed
Karachi: The bullet-riddled bodies of four people, including two Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists, were found in different parts of the city on Wednesday, raising the deal toll from target killings in the past three days to 40.
The bodies of two unidentified men riddled with bullets were recovered from near Salaar Compound, Bheempura, in the Napier area on Wednesday morning.
According to police, some unidentified men pulled up a car in the area, dumped the bodies and fled while resorting to aerial firing. The bodies bore severe torture marks. The deceased remained unidentified.
Meanwhile, the bullet-riddled of 28-year-old Naveed was found from opposite Islamia College in the Jamshed Quarters police limits.
A message regarding the recovery of the corpse was aired on police control, following which a person visited the Jamshed Quarters police station and identified the deceased as Naveed, a resident of Liaquatabad. He had been abducted from outside his house on Tuesday night and his body bearing torture marks was recovered on Wednesday morning. Naveed was said to be an activist of the MQM.
The bullet-riddled body of another MQM activist, Arshad Baig, 32, was found from a garbage dump near the Zoological Garden in the Garden police limits. He was a resident of Usmanabad, Lyari, and was abducted from the area on Tuesday night by some unidentified criminals, who later tortured him to death. The deceased was an activist of the MQM’s Unit-186, Lyari Sector.
Meanwhile, another bullet-riddled body that was found in Pak Colony two days ago was identified as that of Sheroz, 20. The deceased’s family approached police who took them to an Edhi mortuary where they identified him as Sheroz (20), a resident of Hasrat Mohani Colony.
He had been abducted three days ago by unidentified criminals who tortured him to death and dumped his body in the area.
