2 customs officials, one agent arrested in fraud case
KARACHI: The Corporate Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two customs officials and an agent accused of being involved in Rs 1.5 billion fraud. Sources privy to the matter said that the arrested accused were two customs examiner officers Iftikhar Bhatti and Riaz, and an agent Azharullah Khan.
They were accused of being involved in Rs 1.5 billion fraud in customs duty. The FIA has registered an FIR (5/2011) against the accused. Meanwhile, the customs officials have termed the action as wrong and demanded of the authorities to release their colleagues, otherwise they would observe a strike.
