25 jailed in Faisalabad for eating in public
FAISALABAD: As many as 25 people were sent to jail on Friday for eating in public during Ramazan. A spokesman for the city district government said that they were arrested from different areas of the city for violating the Ihteram-e-Ramazan Ordinance.
He said that special teams had been formed to conduct raids and nab persons found eating in public. The raiding teams arrested 25 people from across the city for eating and drinking in public. These people were sent to jail for 72 hours, the spokesman said. The government has prohibited eating, drinking and smoking in public places during the fasting hours of Ramazan to ensure the sanctity of the month.
