Fake cases: IG told to act against guilty officers
LAHORE: The LHC chief justice on Friday directed the inspector general of police to take action against police officers held responsible in an inquiry by a DIG for arresting a man from court premises soon after the bail granted to him.
Earlier, a report of the inquiry conducted by DIG Ali Amir Malik was submitted to the court which revealed that the Pakpattan DPO was involved in re-arresting and registering fake cases against Javed Sadiq.
The report said the DPO misused his power and office and got fake cases registered against Sadiq at different police stations, including Sattukatla, Muslim Town, and one at Arifwala. It said the officer did this to please his friend, Kashif Zia, who had some dispute with Sadiq.
All the cases against Sadiq had been found fake and the IG had been recommended to order registration of cases against the DPO and others, including Arifwala City SHO Abdul Ghaffar, ASI Munir, Sattukatla inspector Mobeenuddin, ASIs Shaukat Ali, Abdul Rasheed and Abdul Rasheed, and constables Ahmad and Farooq, and Muslim Town ASI Idrees.
The report also recommended a departmental action against the guilty policemen. The chief justice directed the IG to take action against the guilty police officers in the light of the inquiry report and disposed of a petition of Sadiq`s wife.
Petitioner Raheela had informed the court that the Sattukatla police arrested her husband from court premises soon after he was allowed bail in a case of issuing a bogus cheque.
The CJ had taken notice of the incident and ordered the IG to probe into the matter and take strict action against the responsible policemen.
