Karachi: 130 people lost their lives last week
Karachi: Some 130 persons lost their lives last week, of whom 74 became victims of target killings, six murdered, two burnt to death, two committed suicide and six drowned. Fifteen bodies were recovered and 25 were killed in accidents.
At least 952 robberies were committed last week. A total of 498 mobile phones were snatched or stolen, while 39 cars and 88 motorcycles were snatched. People were robbed of valuables, 327 other incidents of robberies were reported in all. At least 168 cases of thefts were reported last week, in which 48 cars and 90 motorcycles were taken away from different parts of the metropolis.
According to the police data, 211 miscreants were arrested and 362 articles recovered.
THE WEEK BEFORE LAST: Some 112 persons lost their lives in the week before last, of whom 72 were killed in targeted violence, eight murdered, two burnt to death, two committed suicide, three drowned, while 15 bodies were recovered and 20 were killed in accidents.
At least 1,717 robberies were committed: 831 mobile phones and 122 cars and 165 motorcycles were snatched or stolen. People were robbed of valuables. In all, 609 other incidents of robberies occurred in all. Around 421 cases of thefts were reported in the previous week, in which 119 cars, 228 motorcycles were taken away from the different parts of the metropolis. According to the police data, 121 miscreants were arrested and 224 articles recovered.
