Firing, hand grenade attacks in Lyari
KARACHI: Police and Rangers have still not registered any single case against firing, hurling of hand grenades and violence in areas of Lyari. According to details, Lyari and adjacent localities remained tense, echoing whole night with gunshots and forcing residents to remain in door. Violence and intense firing were an offshoot of the attack that took place at Gul Muhammad Lane, Chakiwara, Lyari where armed motorbike riders sprayed bullets on local Amn Committee leader Zafar Baloch.
Following the attack, Baloch escaped narrowly, while his supporting group of gangsters affiliated with Lyari gangster gang spilled across Lyari and adjacent localities with full strength.
Dozens of gunmen riding motorbikes moved forward to capture the attackers in different areas of Lyari, including Sango Lane, Shah Latif Road, Zikri Para, Ranchore Line, Cheel Chock and surrounding area of Civil Hospital Karachi.
Police and Rangers did not interferer into gun battle that continued in Lyari and surrounding areas. They also started attacks on ethnic rival dominated areas.
Sources said that armed operatives of Amn Committee barged into the houses and buildings and took positions on the rooftops of various buildings. They opened fire on the rival areas. Police and sources confirmed that heavy firing and hurling of hand grenades in different areas left one man dead and wounded several others.
