Karachi: 1,256 people arrested in one-month
KARACHI: Some 1,256 culprits were arrested over the past one-month under the directives of Inspector General of Police Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani, said a press release issued here on Wednesday. The accused were involved in heinous crimes while huge cache of weapons has also been seized from their possessions.
According to the statement, some 309 police encounters took place in which 565 culprits were arrested red handed while bandits having head money were killed.
While performing their duties four police officials lost their lives and some 14 others were injured. Police claimed to have seized one LMG, 126 Kalashnikov, 111 rifles, 436 shotguns, 96 hand grenades and eight rocket launchers from the possession of accused.
Police also claimed that the extortion cases declined in the month by 36 percent, robberies by 0.8 percent and highway robberies by 30 percent.
