Lahore: Saima Khan exonerated by police
LAHORE: An additional district and sessions on Wednesday disposed of a bail petition filed by stage actress Saima Khan after the Investigation Officer (IO) declared her innocent. A report by the Forensic Laboratory said that the signatures on cheques were not Khan’s. Khan’s lawyer also withdrew the petition.
In earlier proceedings, Judge Shahida Saeed had directed the IO to produce a Forensic Laboratory report on the signatures, purported to be Khan’s, on cheques amounting to Rs2.5 million. Khan was on interim bail.
On Wednesday, the Gulshan-i-Ravi IO appeared before the court and produced the report which proved that the signatures were forged. The IO also found Khan innocent.
One Mazhar Hussain Khokhar had registered an FIR against Attiya Bano alias Saima Khan under Section 489/F of the Pakistan Penal Code.
He said that on February 23, 2009 he rented a house from Ansar Raza and started living there. Khan told him to vacate the house saying that she was the owner of the house and wanted to sell it.
Khokhar said that he wanted to purchase the house and paid her Rs2.5 million. After that, the FIR read, Khan in cahoots with police officials threw him out of the house.
He said Khan gave him three cheques which were dishonored by the bank. After that, Khokhar said, he made several requests to Khan to return his money but she made various excuses to avoid doing so.
