KARACHI: Five, including a police officer, were killed in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis here on Thursday. A police officer and his friend were shot dead in Ahsanabad, Gulshan-e-Attari, within the remits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station.
According to police, two bullet-riddled bodies were found from a house situated in Gulshan-e-Attari, Ahsanabad near National Secondary School. Victims were identified as Sub-InspectorMulazim Hussain, son of Ghulam Sarwar and Mohammad Mumtaz alias Babu, son of Yousuf. Both were the residents of New Karachi.
DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said Mulazim Hussain was deployed at Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police headquarter while his friend used to work as a contractor in different garment factories, adding that both victims used to sit with a friend in that house.
Officer said that the police found two bottles of wine, snacks and around six empty shells of Kalashnikov from the scene. According to police, victims had an altercation with their friends who shot them dead and then fled from the scene.
Victim Mulazim Hussain was performing duties at Ayub Goth police check post a year ago and then was transferred to the West Zone. Bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. DSP said police have collected some evidence from the spot and also detained the house owner.
In another incident, a man was shot dead at KorangiLink road near Vita Chowrangi within the jurisdiction of Korangi police station. Murad Ali, 24, son of Jaffar was going on his motorcycle with a girl, when unidentified armed men reached on a black Corolla car and opened fire. Ali received a bullet and fell from the motorcycle after which a man stepped out of the car and shot him five times. After making sure that Ali was dead, the armed man dragged the girl into the car before fleeing from the scene.
Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. SHO Salim Rind said victim was a resident of Korangi Mehran Town and initially interrogations revealed that the victim had an affair with the girl and both wanted to get married.
Meanwhile, a security guard of Pakistan Post Office was shot dead near Lal Kothi, within the jurisdiction of Ferozabad police station. The victim 45-year-old Faheem Akhter, son of Sattar, was a resident of Jutt Line. He was deployed at the post office near Lal Kothi, Sharah-e-Faisal. While he was buying food for Iftar, two armed men reached and open fire, killing him on the spot.
SHO Ejaz Khawaja said that the victim was a private security company’s guard adding that some personal enmity may have motivated the incident.
Separately, police found a man’s body near Buraq petrol pump, Super Highway, within the remits of Sacchal police station. The victim later identified as Mohammad Sohail Khan, son of Khursheed Alam, resident of Rabia Flowers, Abul Hassan Isphani Road.
Body was shifted to the ASH and later handed over to the family. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state and initiated the probe.
