Valuables worth more than Rs7m taken away
SIALKOT/FAISALABAD: Hundreds of thousands of rupees worth of cash and gold jewellery were taken away from separate incidents in Sialkot and Jhang on Wednesday night and Thursday.
Currency dealer Farzand Ali, a Chawinda resident, was forced to surrender Rs1.4 million cash by three unidentified armed men in Shahabpur area of Sialkot. Ali was shot and injured on offering resistance. Hajipura Police said Ali was headed towards his office after withdrawing the cash from a bank in the area when the unidentified men riding on two motorcycles stopped him.
The injured was taken to Government Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital Sialkot where he was in a critical condition. Police said a case has been registered.
In another incident in Wassankey village in Daska, unidentified men broke into Muhammad Yousaf Cheema’s house and robbed him of 60,000 Saudi Riyals and valuables including 25 tola gold jewellery, cell phones, home appliances and a motorcycle worth Rs3 million. Bambaanwala police have registered a case.
In a robbery at Burewal colony, Jhang Bazaar, Syed Jilal Gilani and his family was deprived of valuables worth Rs2.8 million in a robbery on Wednesday night. Police said unidentified armed men broke into the house, held the family hostage and robbed it of Rs2.8 million valuables. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
