NOWSHERA: Militants blew up another school in the district on Friday and this time they struck in Kund Khairabad village, sources said.
The sources said that explosive devices planted by militants in the Government Primary School for Boys in Kund Khairabad went off at 9:45 pm. As a result, three rooms and boundary wall of the school were completely destroyed. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
It was the second school blown up by the militants in two days. The militants barged into the Government Girls Primary School at Faizabad in Mera Akora Khattak and triggered explosions on Thursday. The explosion brought down two rooms of the school and its boundary walls. The houses next to the school building also sustained damage in the blast.
The Bomb Disposal Unit officials said four to five kilograms of explosives were used in the bombing. The Executive District Officer (Education) Raj Mohammad said that the number of schools destroyed by the militants in Nowshera district had reached eight. He said the destroyed institutions included three girls and five boys schools.
The official said that reconstruction work on the Government Girls High School at Badrashi village was going on while PC-I had been sent to the provincial government for the reconstruction of the remaining schools.
