Arms smuggling foiled in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: City police claimed on Friday to have foiled an arms’ smuggling bid and arrested a smuggler. CCPO Imtiaz Altaf received information that a big cache of arms would be smuggled from tribal areas to Punjab. A police team was constituted headed by SSP Operations Ejaz Ahmed, which erected barricades on all entering points near the tribal belt.
The team stopped a suspicious car (No-PG-3214) and upon search recovered a Kalashnikov, five repeaters, a rifle, 18 magazines and 500 cartridges from its hidden cavities. The smuggler who was identified as Zartaj of Azakhel, Mattani was arrested.
