Islamabad: Huge cache of arms recovered, two held
Islamabad: The Margalla Police have recovered a huge cache of arms and also arrested two accused along with the vehicle they were using for transportation of the weapons in Sector F-8/1 here.
According to the police spokesman, a team of Margalla police station headed by its SHO Irshad Abro was performing duty in Sector F-8/1, which spotted a suspected Suzuki pick-up. When signalled to stop, the driver tried to sped away, however, police managed to stop it after a brief chase and overpowered its occupants identified as Imdad Ullah and Hazrat Wali. Two of their other accomplices managed to escape from the scene.
During search of the vehicle, police recovered 29 rifles including 222, 7 MM, 8 MM, 12 bore, 44 bore, Klashnikov, 40 magazines and several rounds hidden in three sacks. On Sunday, nabbed persons were produced in the court of Additional Sessions Judge and obtained their two-day physical remand. Further investigation is underway. IGP Bani Amin Khan and SSP Tahir Alam Khan have announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for the police team.
