12 TTP militants killed in Khyber Agency attack
BARA: At least 12 militants belonging to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed and three others were injured when three of their vehicles were attacked by a rival militant group with arms and roadside bomb at two different places in Tirah valley in Khyber Agency on Tuesday, local sources said.
The sources said that the militants headed by Commander Javed belonging to the Khitab Gul Group fired rocket at two vehicles carrying TTP militants belonging to the Tariq Afridi Group in Tarkhokas area of Tirah valley.
The sources said that eight militants were killed while two were injured in the attack. The two double cabin pick-up trucks were destroyed in the attack. A militant of the banned Lashkar-e-Islam, Saddam, was killed while his colleague was injured when they were fired at after they rushed to the burning vehicles to ascertain the identity of the militants, the sources added.
The sources said that the LI militants were mistaken by Khitab Group for rivals. The injured militants were shifted by the local people to seek medical help. The bodies of the slain militants were lying there till the filing of this report.
A few hours ago, the Khitab Gul Group had attacked another vehicle of Commander Tariq Group with a roadside bomb in Tordara area of Tirah valley in which four militants were killed and their vehicle was badly damaged. Two weeks ago, five militants including Khitab Gul were gunned down by the militants led by Commander Tariq in Mehraban Killay while they were travelling in a vehicle.
