Taxila: 2 car-lifters arrested
TAXILA: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Tuesday arrested two alleged car-lifters and recovered two stolen cars.
Sector Commander M-1 Asim Gulzar, while briefing newsmen here at Burhan base camp on Tuesday, said NHMP officials stopped a black Corolla car (LED-8873) on suspicion near Burhan Interchange. During search, it was found that the culprit had affixed a fake number plate while the original registration was LED-2269. The car-lifter, Tanveer Ahmed, was arrested.
During preliminary interrogation, he disclosed that he was hired for Rs25,000 to transport the car to Mardan from Lahore. He said the car had been stolen from the limit of Garden Town police station in Lahore.
In the other incident, the police recovered a Honda Civic (IDH-1397) stolen from the jurisdiction of Sabzi Mandi police station and arrested the car-lifter identified as Jamil Khan.
