4 militants killed in LI-TTP clash
BARA: Four militants were killed in fighting between the banned Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Mehraban Killay of Tirah valley in Khyber Agency on Wednesday, tribal sources said.
The sources said the killing of 12 TTP militants in two assaults on their vehicles in Tirah valley on Tuesday infuriated the militant group led by Tariq Afridi to avenge the killing of his associates who believed the LI was behind the attacks.
The TTP militants attacked the important position of LI known as Zeg hilltop in Mehraban Killay in wee hours of Wednesday and occupied it after a little resistance, the sources said. They added that the TTP militants shot dead two of the four arrested volunteers of LI in the bunker. The other two were set free after it was proved that they had been forcibly sent there for fighting. A large number of LI militants entered Mehraban Killay and occupied three positions of the TTP militants in Nakai, Dwatoy and Mehraban Killay and attacked Zeg hilltop to retake it from their rival militants.
