Lahore: 3 fleeing accused held from court premises
LAHORE: Police foiled attempts of three accused to flee from the Lahore High Court premises after rejection of their bail petitions by the court and arrested them. Justice Kazim Raza Shamsi had dismissed bails petitions of Alim Sher and Talib Hussain in a case of dacoity of Rs2.7 million in Hafizabad.
The accused were on interim bail and appeared before the court for confirmation of their bails. Investigation officer of the case informed the court that several cases were registered against them on charges of decoity and theft and they were required to the police for their interrogation.
On this, the judge did not confirm their bails and ordered the police to arrest them. As they came out of the courtroom, they ran away but the policemen chased them and overpowered them at the main gate of the LHC. Relatives of the accused also tried to help them escape and had a minor brawl with the police.
However, the police successfully shifted the accused to a nearby police station. Another such incident took place at about 2.45pm when Osama, 23, a murder accused, got himself free from the Toba Tek Singh police near the main gate when he was being led to the police van parked outside. Osama ran in the verandah. The police raised alarm to catch him and the accused was again caught.
