Peace activist, son killed in Bajaur
KHAR: Militants killed a member of the pro-government peace committee and his son in an attack on a checkpost in Bajaur Agency’s Chamarkand Tehsil, official sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that the Chamarkand Peace Committee member Malik Afsar Khan and his son Sher Alam Khan were performing duty at the checkpost in Nawa Pass, Pak-Afghan border, Chamarkand Tehsil, when the militants attacked them with heavy weaponry. Both the peace body members were killed in the attack.
The political administration said that Afsar Khan was a prominent tribal elder and had raised a tribal Lashkar against the militants in the area. Soon after the incident, security forces launched a search operation and rounded many suspects.
