Lahore: Dacoits close chapter of another life
LAHORE: Dacoits gunned down a mother of four outside her residence as she tried to put up resistance during road robbery here in Sabzazar Area late on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.
Police investigators said that the deceased, later identified as Saira Bibi, along with her driver had just left her residence (337-G Block) for a nearby market after Wednesday midnight when three motorcyclists intercepted there car. The robbers took out guns, pointed at the woman and demanded cash and gold ornaments.
As she tried to make hue and cry, one of the robbers pushed the trigger of the shotgun, leaving the woman with serious bullet wounds.
A local trader Bashir Butt told the police that the robbers fled away after snatching gold ornaments and leaving his wife in a pool of blood in the populated locality.
Shopkeepers and local residents came of their houses after listening to the gunshot and found the woman lying on the road with bullet injuries. The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. The police later, handed over the body to the deceased family after her autopsy. The police have also registered a case against unidentified killers and are investigating with no arrest made so far.
In another incident, a man opened straight fire at his daughter and her lover after he witnessed them in an objectionable condition here in Kot Lakhpat police area.
The youth identified as Hashim, a resident of Shahdra, died on the spot while Sadia Bibi, a college student, is said to be in critical condition at a local hospital. The police have arrested Abid Hussain, father of the girl, and are investigating.
The killer told the police that he visited the residence of his sister, Zarina Bibi, in Mustafa Town. The man got infuriated after he witnessed his daughter and her lover in an objectionable condition, took out gun and opened fire at them.
The girl went to her aunt house from where she contacted her lover by cellular phone and asked him to come there, police said. The police have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy. Further investigations were underway.
Meanwhile, a newly born baby girl has been kidnapped from the Lahore General Hospital, according to the police.
Resident of Sofiabad, Muhammad Ali Raza, told the police that a woman kidnapped the newly born daughter of his sister, Shazia, from the Gyne Ward of the hospital. The complainant further said that he went outside to fetch water after leaving the woman with an unidentified woman. As he came back, the he found the girl and the woman missing.
The police reached the hospital after the victim family contacted the police emergency service and disclosed the happening. The police are investigating.
