3 soldiers, 10 militants killed in Khyber clash
BARA: Three soldiers and 10 militants were killed in a clash in Akakhel area of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency on Saturday, official sources said.
The sources said that a convoy of the security forces was on the way to Milward FC camp when the militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Islam opened fire on it in Muhammad Ali Chowk in the Akakhel area.
The security forces repulsed the attack and the exchange of fire lasted for about one hour, the sources said. They added that three soldiers, Sepoy Atiq, Sepoy Sami Orakzai and Lance Naik Ali Mar Shah were killed while seven others were injured.
Official sources claimed that 10 militants of the LI including commander Arman Shah were killed in the retaliatory fire by the soldiers.
Tribal sources said that Commander Arman Shah was the head of LI for the Qambarkhel tribe residing in Akakhel area. However, independent sources did not confirm the official figure of militants killed in the clash and said only two militants were killed and three were wounded in the incident.
