Karachi: Gang of car lifters busted
Karachi: An inter-provincial gang of car-lifters have been busted by the police who recovered a stolen car, tracker jammer and arms from the accused.
According to the police, the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) in a joint operation with the airport police arrested the ring leader of the gang identified as Mumtaz Ali Bhayo while his accomplice Imran Awan escaped after an encounter with the police.
The police also recovered a stolen car (ASZ-297). The car was stated to have been snatched at gunpoint by the accused four days back in the jurisdiction of the Noorjehan police station.
During initial interrogation, the accused stated that he used to snatch new cars from posh areas and was involved in such activities for many years.
The accused said that he used to sell the cars through accomplices in Azad Kashmir, Punjab, Balochistan and other areas of interior Sindh and so far the gang had disposed of over 300 cars.
The Sindh government has announced a head money of Rs0.5 million for his other accomplice Kashif Abro. The other men of the gang include Aftab alias Moosa Bhayo, Ghaffar and Haider.
