Wana: 7 arrested, five vehicles impounded under FCR
WANA: The political administration arrested seven tribesmen under the collective responsibility section of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) after machinery of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) working on the Angoor Adda Road in South Waziristan was stolen, an official said on Tuesday.
The FWO, a military-run construction company, is undertaking work on the expansion and asphalting of the Angoor Adda Road connecting the town sited on the Pak-Afghan border.
The official said seven tribesmen belonging to the Bayakhel tribe, a sub-clan of Tojikhel Wazir tribe, were arrested and five vehicles loaded with fruit and vegetables impounded to put pressure on the tribesmen to help recover the stolen machinery.
The administration gave several notices to them (Bayakhel tribesmen) but it fell on deaf ears forcing the authorities to take action against them, he argued. The official said that a team of the Khassadar Force led by Political Moharrir, Fazlur Rehman Gandapur put up a barricade on the Wana-Tank Road and arrested seven tribesmen besides impounding five vehicles.
He said perks of Bayakhel tribe have been suspended and salaries of the clan’s class-IV employees working in different government departments have also been withheld. Neither the privileges will be restored nor the salaries released unless the stolen equipment is recovered, the official maintained. Meanwhile, traders whose goods are loaded on the impounded trucks said that the fruit and vegetables would be left to rot if the vehicles were not allowedgo within 24 hours.
