Karachi: Alleged assassin remanded
KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Thursday remanded an alleged assassin in police custody in a murder case. Ijaz alias Chutto, said to be associated with a political party, was arrested a couple of days ago within the remit of the Baldia police station in an illicit weapon case, police claimed, adding that he confessed to targeted killings of people, including some political workers, during interrogation.
When the police produced him in the court seeking his remand for further interrogation, the magistrate remanded him in police custody till Aug 29 and directed the investigation officer to produce him on the next hearing.
According to the police, the suspect has confessed that he along with his absconding accomplices, Naseem, Ghaffar and Sarwar alias Chacha, had killed Ali Nawaz Baloch in June in Saeedabad.
A case (FIR No 375/11) was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the PPC at the Saeedabad police station on a complaint of the deceased’s brother.
