Mansehra: 2 booked in corruption case
MANSEHRA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Thursday booked a contractor and director of the Fisheries Department in a corruption case of Rs20 million.
Cadet Aurangzeb, circle officer ACE Mansehra, told reporters that director of the Fisheries Department Mohammad Ayaz Khan rented out the trout fish farms to a contractor Mehmood Ahmed Khan on a throwaway price and received Rs20 million as kickback.
He said that the rooms were being rented out to the said contractor since 2008. He added that the director also caused a loss of Rs10 million to the Fisheries Department as the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority had approved the amount for the reconstruction of these rooms. However, he said the director was hand in glove with the contractor and they did not vacate the rooms to carry out reconstruction and thus funds had lapsed. He said that a room was usually rented out at Rs140,000 for a six-month period.
