Over 105 outlaws held in Peshawar operation, says SSP
PESHAWAR: More than 105 proclaimed offenders and criminals involved in different cases were arrested during a search operation in various parts of the provincial metropolis on Monday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Coordination) Mohammad Yamin Khan said the operation was launched on the directives of Capital City Police Officer Imtiaz Altaf to maintain peace on the occasion of Eid.
“Those arrested included 20 proclaimed offenders. Three Kalashnikov rifles and 30 pistols have also been recovered from the captives,” Yamin Khan told reporters at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
The official said the CCPO has directed all the station house officers (SHOs) to raid the hideouts of criminals in their respective areas so the public could take a sigh of relief. “The raids were conducted in the areas of Badaber, Chamkani, Pishtakhara, Daudzai, Matani and Mathra police stations,” said the SSP.
“The city police chief has directed all the sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and SHOs to prevent aerial firing on Chand Raat and Eid as it claims precious lives every time. Action will be taken against the concerned SDPO and SHO if any such incident took place,” said Yamin Khan.
The official said all the SHOs have been directed to go hard against militants and criminals but be polite with the public at checkposts and those coming to police stations with complaints. Action would be taken against the officials if involved in misusing authority against the public, he added.
